Spanish

¡Hola! ¡Bienvenido a la clase de español!
Let's talk! This Spanish class gives students the opportunity to practice speaking and listening with their peers. New vocabulary is taught each class and builds on the vocabulary from last class, plus reinforcement of common words like numbers and colors. Games, songs, and projects create an interactive environment for group-based language learning. Practice your new words at home with easy to follow supplemental materials, designed for non-Spanish speaking teachers!

Preschool Spanish is appropriate for early learners ages 3-6. Elementary Spanish is recommended for ages 5-10.
There is no prerequisite for this course, students may begin in any quarter.

Elementary Spanish

¿Cómo estás? How are you?

Quarter One

Are you hot or cold? Thirsty or hungry? Have a drink. In this 6-week course, students will learn to talk about what they're feeling, and what they need. Each week will focus on new needs and how to meet them, while reinforcing the verbs "to have" and "to want."
Students may be asked to perform simple writing tasks (like copying a word).

Mi Familia, My Family

Quarter Two

My mother is at home; my sister is at the park. Let's talk about our families and where they go! Every week, we'll add new family members, and where they like to go, focusing on the "being" verbs.
Students may be asked to perform simple writing tasks (like copying a word).

Mi Ropa, My Clothes

Quarter Three

It's raining, get your coat. It's hot, put on shorts. Students will learn the words for clothes and when they wear them in quarter 3. They will learn the verbs "to put on" and "to use."
Students may be asked to perform simple writing tasks (like copying a word).

¿Que hora es? What time is it?

Quarter Four

At 12 o'clock, we eat lunch. To wrap up this series, we'll learn lots of "doing" words, as we go through the day and talk about what we do. Students should be familiar with their numbers for this course. (Practice materials will be sent out before this course begins.)
